Let's Get Shabby - challenge # 16

The criteria for this months Let's get Shabby challenge was too good to pass up. You had to chose which kitchen you wanted to play in and also follow this recipe........here's the kitchen I chose (gorgeous!)
One piece of fabric
Two die-cut shapes
Three colours from the kitchen and make them dominant.
.........so here's what I have created.

And some close ups.....

Do you like these new crystal vines and leaves from Green Tara!!! Divine!
This month is a fantastic prize from maxines melange!

Thanks for stopping by.
I have Ella's 6th birthday this weekend and she is having her first party with friends ....theme "Fairies" So I'll show a few photos next week.
Wish me luck!

Couple of pubs!

I have a couple of layouts that were used for publication this week.....firstly Scrapbooking.com asked me to write a tutorial for one of my layouts. It was actually the layout I did for stucksketches! a few months ago....anyway here is the tutorial I did for my Layout......

I decided to use the photo of my youngest daughter, Ella, throwing autumn leaves up in the air. She was having so much fun – hence the title – while her older sister was rock climbing.

Supplies

•Alphabet/Letters: chipboard (Heidi Swapp); stickers (October Afternoon)
•Cardstock: Kraft
•Embellishments: flowers, leaves (Prima Marketing); pearls from vintage necklace; buttons
•Ink: Pinecone (Versa Ink)
•Other/Misc: masking tape
•Patterned paper: Origins, Nook and Pantry (BasicGrey); Vintage Script (Webster’s Pages)
•Ribbon

Instructions

1. Ink around the edges of the Kraft cardstock.
2. Cut a 20x 28 cm piece of BasicGrey paper and ink around the edges. Place in the centre of the cardstock.
3. Cut a 5cm strip and tear one edge on an angle and ink. Cut two strips of different patterned paper and place 2/3rds of the way down the page.
4. Using a 5 x 7 inch photo, matt with the plain reverse colour of another BasicGrey sheet; distress edges and machine stitch a border to give definition.
5. Tear some vintage paper into strips, ink and place underneath the edges of your photo randomly.
6. Place the larger of your embellishments closest to the photo and stagger the smaller ones diagonally towards the corners. Randomly place a few buttons in matching colors.
7. Add a couple of layers of ribbon of different lengths along the bottom of the photo.
8. Add some pearl sprigs coming outward from the flowers.
9. Add your title to one corner of the paper strips.
10. Place strips of masking tape along the bottom of the photo in the opposite corner to write your journaling on.
11. Cut out some butterflies from patterned paper and place above embellishments on foam tape to give added depth.

So that was quite exciting for me to be asked by an American online magazine to be published!
Next one was just published in Scrapbook Creations Vol 09 No 07.

I did this layout in November last year so it's amazing it's only being published now!

Close up ........

Will be back in the next couple of days with my letsgetshabby entry for the month.

Scrap Whisper

A long time ago I started a Scrap Whisper over at  The Boxx. We have finally finished it and now it's time to upload! Funny how from start to finish a layout can change so much but that is the whole idea....to see how people interpret something so different!

So here's my layout. ( I was 3rd after Bridgette) please excuse the dodgy photo....couldn't be bothered taking another one!

"His Favourite Photo"
Here is a close up of the fabric roses that I have made....

This was my Dad's favourite photo of Olivia, he had it printed out everywhere! It was also by fluke that we got this shot.....she was in a dark playground tunnel and Dave just pointed the camera and we got this amazing pic on film!

It's also my turn to set the fortnightly challenge at Scrapboxx and I want your layout to have a Spring feel to it......so lots of flowers, trees and sunshine and some journalling about why you and/or your family love Spring.

You have until the 29th to get your entries in to win a $10 Scrapboxx voucher in the shop!

Have a great weekend....I have my one and only aunty staying for the weekend, so we are going to have lots of fun!

Camp Mojo Challenge 02

Next year I am lucky enough to be attending Camp Mojo!
Here is last month's colour challenge that was set. You could only use White, Blue and red.

"Tiny Dancer"
The blue flowers were a horrible shade of purple so I sprayed them with glimmermist....gotta love glimmermist! I also didn't have any white cardstock at the time so painted a piece of cardboard.
Voting is still on at the moment so wish me luck!
